Eric also read law at the University of Liverpool and commenced his legal practice at Shahrizat Rashid Lee under the tutorage of Dato Ahmad Redza. He was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2008 and remained as a Legal Associate at Shahrizat Rashid Lee.

During his tenure at Shahrizat Rashid Lee, Eric was exposed to various civil litigation matters, primarily under the areas of contractual disputes and defamation. Eric then went to the State of Sabah in 2014 to operate a branch of Shahrizat Rashid Lee. He was the Managing Partner of the Sabah branch and specialised in post-liquidation and receivership matters.
